If you're travelling in, or to, Europe this weekend - snow may affect you! 8)

Easter Travel

In short, heavy snow is expected in the Northern and Western Alpine regions through most of Friday and probably into Saturday. Temperatures in the area are below average, so snow is likely to fall to the valley floor at times. If you plan to drive down through France, we strongly recommend you monitor the French weather forecasts ( www.meteofrance.com) for all areas on your route and time your travel accordingly.

Unusually for Easter, snow chains and / or winter tyres may be necessary to reach many resorts on Friday and Saturday - local police may stop you proceeding without them.

Incoming

After a brief clear spell (Thursday), snow will be the order of the day for Friday in particular and the weekend in general. Most of the European Alps will see fresh snow, with large falls to the Northern French Alps and Western Switzerland. Further snow is likely during the week, with mixed weather but consistently low temperatures.

Cold weather, and further precipitation, look possible through to the end of March at least, giving a great base to the very end of the season.

Jolly good,

It's all turned out nice again then :)

Can anyone explain to me why when watching the Mayerhofen forecast and snow reports for the last week, that it has snowed every day and the snow levels do not increase?

Am I being incredibly stupid or is the base melting as fast as it's being topped up?

Or are the lovely people of mayrhofen having too much fun to update it?

You should be so lucky...

Crikey! Look at the size of that precipitation spikey wiggly!

Please take it easy if you're driving up into the mountains tomorrow; chains will be required to reach many resorts - and it might be worth considering your own personal snow-plough... it is going to SNOW!

Caron, you wouldnt want it any other way, bearing in mind how hit and miss the weather has been this season.
White everywhere, fresh snow to walk in, and lovely pistes for your boys.

Get in the pub, the one which overlooks the slopes, and enjoy those glu-wein's.

Have a fab time Caron with plenty of self indulgence and i`m sure your family and friends wont leave you feeling left out.A nice rest and reflection on what you are going to do next season to make up for it.
Look after mum boys and have a safe trip.
