HI, I have never been skiing before and having suffered years of persuasion have decided to don the skiis and head for the snow. My couple of pals who I am going with have both been before, one more experienced than the other. We wantto go either the 15th or 17th march for 1 week in a location that caters for mixed ability, has good snow, great nightlife and plenty of bars - somewhere that is good fun but not downmarket.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi there
Well you should consider either Bansko or Borovets in Bulgaria
I learnt to Snowboard in Borovets - Nightlife is very good loads of cheap drink
Bansko was where i learnt to Ski and also has good nightlife

i don't know when holidays fall this year which is a problem. as always im gonna say banff with good reason-nightlife is excellent, terrain is suited to all abilities, and theres plenty to do if you get bored of or dont like skiing (not likely). Price it-it's pretty cheap. if not don't go to bulgaria-may put you off skiing forever and we dont want that.

I agree maybe not Bulgaria - Bansko is good once your on the slopes but the Gondla wait is awful - to many people not enough lifts!
La Plagne is good - all abilities there are lots of different villages as well so can try different places, snow will be good then as well.
English school holidays are all over the place i think some will be off then but its a good idea just to put in google - the country your going to followed by school holidays...

I see you are in the france forum but if its good nightlife and scenic skiing the i suggest you head to Austria? Probably Saabach/hinterglemm good for mixed groups, lots to do on and off the slopes and plenty snow at present, wild apres ski. not sure as to the logic in going all the way to Banff for your first ski hols when europe is so good this year. good luck
