Hi,
I dont have kids so dont know this stuff but when is Frenach (and UK for that matter)half term over? I hear the queues have been brutal for the last couple of weeks. I'm heading to Morzine saturday just wondering if the queues might have died down by then?

Half term in england has been mostly last week and some this week. If I remember rightly french schools were this week so hopefully it'll be much quieter by the weekend for you.
Enjoy :D
apologies. apparently some french schools are still on holiday next week but i think you'll find the busiest period is over.

From what I've read it depends on where you go in France. If you go to the resorts used by all the tour operators then queues will be huge. The smaller less famous resorts which the TOs don't use will usually have much smaller crowds.

French schools are organised into 3 zones and the half term weeks are staggered according to the zone. So for last week and this coming week, most of the South of France and the Alpine regions are on holidays last week and this week. Basically, half term is pretty much over by 3 March.

Euridyce, part of the EU Education organisation, publishes the dates for all school holidays and terms across Europe. This year's timetable is at
http://www.eurydice.org/portal/page/portal/Eurydice/showPresentation?pubid=087EN
It's always useful to refer to if you aren't constrained to school holidays, as the patter of holidays isn't consistent from year to year. However, you'll have to trawl through the Euridyce website at www.euridyce.org as the term/holiday timetable document always has a non-intuitive URL.
