I need to buy a pair of goggles to fit my ski helmet but also have to be OTG as well. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which would be best suited? The thing I most definately want to avoid is my glasses steaming up as I hate not being able to see. Any recommendations gratefully received. :?:

tobysdad, Have you thought about using daily disposable contact lenses? I find them extremely convenient when skiing. Pop them in when you wake up, no need to faff around with glasses when having lunch or apres ski in the evenings and take them off before sleeping. With contacts you can use ordinary sunnys and goggles - greater choice.

I've ordered contacts from http://www.visiondirect.co.uk/index.php
without any problems.

tobysdad, back to your question. You will not know if the goggles fit until you try them on. If you post what helmet you have and it's size and what goggles you are thinking about then there's an off chance another j2ski'er has tried that combination so they'll be able to tell you if they are compatible.

It's best, if you can, to take your helmet with you when shopping for googles. It's not just a matter of having a long enough strap but of fitting comfortably without the helmet pressing down on them.

I am about to shop for a new helmet which will hold goggles on better then my present one which does not have an adequate clip at the back. Last week my goggles slipped off unnoticed (not the first pair lost this way). Any suggestions of tried and trusted helmet makes welcome!

Maybe the most important thing to look for in goggles to use with a helmet is that the strap adjuster is not dead centre at the rear. This will conflict with the strap retainer on the helmet. If it is centred, you will always have the strap tighter on one side, which is very irritating.

Goggles that have a 'rubberised' inside to the strap are also quite useful. It grips the helmet a little and stops them sliding off the helmet when not worn on the face. Unfortunately mine doesn't have this strip so quite often they'll ping off.
