Realise how insane this sounds, and it is only my second post, but in ALL the bars in Mayrhofen there's a song thats played that I want to know the name of (unless anyone is willing to actually send me it...) Its (obviously) in German, and the chorus (am I really typing this...) goes "Whoa Oh Oh Oh Oh" - When I say ALL the bars, I literally do mean pretty much all of the apres ski bars in and around the town centre including the Ice Bar, Moe's and Nikki's - anyone any idea's?

Based on your very accurate description, it's almost certainly 'Wir Wollen Dir Eisbaren' by Sound Convoy.

The link below has a clip of it.

If you PM me I can tell you how to get hold of a copy.

not at all insane, the music played in austrian bars is hilarious, you would complain if it were played anywhere else but, somehow it seems to work :-o
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Ha ha, remember that from the Eisbar last year. Sadly, the Germans and Austrians actually think its a good song. Mind you, they still churn out "Live if Life" dont they?

Mentalists.

Agreed, it must be. Am  at this thread though, how is it we know that it's THAT song, with only Woah oh oh oh oh to go on!

Austrian ski anthems are classic, only in Austria though...

Other memorable ones are:

Schiiiieeeeeeeeee-Foahn!
Ich will heim nach Furstenfeld (with intermittent faux yodelling)
You're my mate
And that country roads/west virginia one, with random slowing down and speeding up again - why do Germans and Austrians play it continually?

Agree with Tony_H, they are mentalists.

Happy sliding

And anything by DJ Otzi.

I do confess to owning the DJ Otzi albmum. I bought it for an alpine party - obviously. Oh and I downloaded the Sound Convoy album too.

Off to French Alps tomorrow for the first time. Can I expect the same quality music?

I am sorry, I got confused when you mentioned the word "quality".......

I was in Hintertux last week where we were entertained to such current hits as "Que Sera, Sera," "YMCA". "Milord" (but without Piaf) and as mentioned above, "West Virginia". All songs were squeezed into a thumping two beat performance so that we could all bounce up and down. And yes, the slowing down and speeding up of a chorus is as inevitable as the seemingly endless repetitions of the last bits. It's all a bit like Austrian cuisine - hearty and solid.

Funny how it all seems quite jolly and good fun: nothing to do, I suppose, with the great day's skiing and the gluhwein.
