Hi im off with my daughter in April for a last min treat on our own - my DD is booked into ski lessons in the am during which time I would like to ski on my own and then after lunch Id like to take her with me - Im a happy blue skiier hoping to progress to a red run (on my own) and my daughter is a snoplough turner just learining parallel on blues - can anyone reccomend some easy blues to take my dd on and more challenging blues and easy reds for me - the problem with a pioste map is it doesnt grade the run too well - in les gets earlier this year I skiid blues that were almost flat and a lovely green that should easy be a blue??? Any help there would be good - obviously Im not good enough to go on the free ski hosting as Im not confident on reds at all and will revert to ploughing. I have to admit I lack a lot of bottle - i like to know if theres a steep bit coming up in plenty of time so I do tend to make the full use of a slope just in case! (wimp I know)

Hi Sam, there are several slopes that I think will be ideal for you. The "Tetras" blue run is the main piste back to town and is long, wide, fairly smooth and probably an average gradient for a Blue. It's served by a fast, modern chair (that slows down to let you on and off) and ends right by a very pleasant restaurant (sunny terrace, great views and good food and service) where you can recuperate and reflect on your achievement! 8)

You can use the Papillon blue to get down to Les Eucherts where there is another modern chair (Eucherts Express) serving another two blue runs - Perdrix and Papillon which are very gentle and often almost deserted so ideal for building your confidence.

There are a number of moderately short reds on this side of the ridge too, for when you're feeling brave!

Hope that helps - one of the forum regulars (David@TraxVax) has a chalet in La Ros and can give you some more local knowledge.

Thanks Powderhound you are a star - Do you have any suggestions as to nice long blues as well that I can go on with my daughter. ? By the way Im ok with chair and drag lifts etc its just a confidence issue - my OH and last instructor in Les Gets thought I was quite good actually - I can carve my turns quite easily - (probably the problem as carving doesnt tend to slow you down!) Also are there any greens In La Ros? the piste map doesnt seem to show much and yet it staes there are some. Also do yu think it might be a possiblilty to ski to La Thuille with my little one? and how long would it take ie all day/couple of hours. Thanks for the suggestions on lunch posts by the way Im partial to a bit of vin chaud ( helps with the old confidence funnily enough!)
