1. Chamonix
2. St Anton
3. Verbier?
4. Val d'Isere
5. Tignes
Many others have amazing off piste, obviously Tignes has loads. All the above have great off piste. St. Foy in France is good for off-piste.
I will try think of more, and everyone else...

Agree with all bennyboy's suggestions - with possible exception of Val D (overrated IMHO), and you must add:-
Les Arcs - some truly awesome Black Runs, huge ski area and some very serious off-piste possibilities.
Alagna - unspoilt and wild mountain area, quiet apres - a place for people who ski, really ski.
But pretty much anywhere is the right resort with the right snow!

Trois Vallees takes some beating for the sheer amount of skiing, plenty of blacks and lift served off piste. Any resort there is good, though if you want the harder stuff on the doorstep, Id suggest Courchevel 1850 (expensive, but has the Grand couloir black), Les Menuires (ugly but reasonable prices, less crowded, with the Lac de lou itineraire off the back), Val thorens-at 2400m snow sure with great blacks off the Cime de caron.
