Snow finally started falling again in the Chamonix Valley in the middle of last week. Not exactly a huge dump, but it did provide a gradual build up over several days. But temperatures were still staying stubbornly high, so whilst the snow was falling on the ski areas, it was still green at the bottom of the valley.
Then, last night, the temps dropped and we were all clearing snow off the cars this morning! Local forecast is for more snow today and, with a new disturbance coming in from the west, more snow on the ski areas forecast for tomorrow as well.
The whole valley is blanketed in snow, the place is really looking like a proper winter wonderland .... just as it should be at this time of year! That's great news for the upcoming half term holidays.

Just returned last night from my half term skiing holiday in Filzmoos. We had quite a lot of fresh snow on Tuesday or Wednesday (cant remember exactly). then it rained one morning but it later turned to snow, and we had a lot of sunny weather. pistes were in much better condition than i was expecting and, although the snow was patchy away from the runs, there was plenty on them. however the south facing runs suffered a little bit especially during the afternoon, with the snow becoming a little slushy with big moguls developing on them. but the north facing runs were great, snow remained goof all day but on the steeper parts it got a little hard and icy.

Oh that Essex half term had been this week instead of the last one.
Les Angles has gone from 18 runs to 26 over night and all lifts open.
