Hi all
I'm sorry this may seem to be an odd question but this is my first ski holiday (usually a big city girl) and I'm not sure what to expect of Sauze D'Oulx. Can anyone advise if there is access to ATMs/cash points in the resort. I don't usually like to carry large amounts of cash but at the same time don't want to miss out on the apres ski! (Don't use credit cards so if there's no ATM in the village I will need to think about bring extra money with me.

if any one can help it would be much appreciated

thank you

Jo

Hi there I've just come back toFrom Saux on Fri 2nd Feb. First in answer to your question you'll have no problem getting money, there are ATMs banks etc BUT you must have your pin number or you will not be able to get any money. Conditions are not great at the moment due to lack of snow, try and get to Sanscicario, its great and quieter and sunnier there, it will take you an hour from Saux also Claviere is worth a visit but will take you 2 hours. Ski high in Saux and Sestriere is pretty grim. The apres ski in Saux is brilliant, loads of happy hours, fantastic food and really nice people. Paddy McGinties is great for 3 - 6pm happy hours, make sure you have a bombardino (hot advocat plus whisky and sugar topped with cream, bliss!!) Grand trum bar is quieter with happy hours and the staff are reallly nice. Bar 24 after 9pm is staggeringly cheap. Plus there are things like pop idol, exotic night and other chav stuff if you want it. Hope this helps. Cheers I wish I was going back.

There are a couple of cashpoints in Sauze, but in peak season they run out during the week so get your cash sorted early!

For anyone thinking of going, do it. Even when the weather hasnt been great, the conditions from the Sportina and Clotes lifts up are good, and Sestriere offers plenty more.

Sansicario is lower and therefore doesnt get as much snow, so I avoided it altogether in March, but Montgenevre is well worth a visit for a change of scene.

Nightlife in Sauze is not half as rowdy as some people give the impression. Yes, its aimed at keeping Brits occupied, and you can watch Sky in many places, have a game of pool, or just drink Peroni until you fall over, but its pretty relaxed and chilled out too. Mind you, I wouldnt want to be there Xmas and New year week.

Drinks are surpsiringly pricey too. paddy McGintys is a good place to base yourself for some apres ski, but its 4.50 euros a pint, and 5 euros a mixer. This drops to 3 euros in happy hour (3-6) but similar prices in all other bars too.

Avoid Schuss, its a total rip off down there for drinks.

There a couple of nice little bars the other side in the old town too, near ZiZis, and everywhere we went the staff were superb and friendly.
