Hi All,
10 of us are off to Alp D'Huez on Feb 3rd.
Does anyone have any local knowledge on the current snow situation, and what the next few weeks may bring.
Have read lots of good reports on the area, we are staying in the Les Bergers Appts (Cheap and Cheerful....)
Looks like good apres ski, just a bit concerened of general lack of snow at the moment...
Would appreciate any comments,
Thanks

hi there
back from the same place on the 5th Jan.The snow was good everywhere. The resort was a pleasant suprise especially for family with differend abilities of skiing.Queues were minimal. The bergers place is Ok.try to avoid the very slow transport lifts which connect the 3 corners of the resort.better take a lift up somewhere and traverse to the area you want rather than sitting on a flat and mega slow chair .you are as well very close to the night run if you want to do some extra skiing I think it is only on tuesday and thursdays.Your place as a little bit away from the centre(at one of the corners of the resort but from there with lift and two -you are in the happening.best place for lunch up the mountain for me was the second Marmotte gondola with perfect view quite fast service and I think direct take from your place.dont worry everywhere the distances are 10-15 minutes walk.probably the best places to stay are in the upper part of the resort.near the Place du rond du ski .Look into Imap if the resort in the alpedhuez.com tog et to know the place.Actually going again there at half term which is very unusual(everybody in my family aggeed that this winter will go again to this place.)Good places to eat and not expensive .we went driving and it is Ok just the last few climbs were abit tight. The snow dumped alot of white stuff on the 2-3rd which parcticaly opened the season.before that the conditions were very bad(icy patchy only few runs etc)If you are going with agency consider booking you lift pass via them cos there is additional discount.if family of 4 going in the party take proofs and the 4th 5th etc person pays half price for the not so cheap lift pass.
Could not do the Sarenne run because of closing the top bits because of snow wind etc.hoping in Feb to do our duty there.Snow could be better for this time of season but hey there are resorts in the alps with green and brown views from the windows so feel lucky you are going to high resort.try open air swim -free with visalp lift pass.Ice ring very good as well.sport centre good variety. It is well balanced resort.Probably if the resort had non-car policy like the places like Val thorens etc the atmosphear was going to be even better.Alot of cars everywhere in the center and walking around them sometimes dangerous(for kids onlythat is)Enjoy your stay there and Please leave up to date snow report when you come back.
Cheers

Just got back from ADH, and had a wicked time.
2 Days were a little icy, but then it checked it down for 3 days !!!
Visibility was a little poor, but hey who cares when you are face planting in a foot of powder !!
Great fun off piste, and most pistes were in great condition, recommend the reds down to Oz.
Have fun

Hiya all, as you can see from this post, there were a few messages posted last week indicating that there had been some snow falls and that conditions were generally good at ADH. I have heard that they had some rain on lower slopes last week? Is this correct? and if so how are conditions holding up? I am heading to ADH this weekend (24th) so any update on ski conditions in ADH and the Alps generally would be great! Cheers all!
