Hi everyone,
I'm going skiiing for the first time in February and am getting my gear together.
I have everything apart from footwear, so as I'll be hiring ski boots, what other footwear do you reccommend?
I have trainers for travelling in, but what about when I get there?
I really fancy a pair of moon boots/snow boots, but are these needed? And are men allowed to wear them???
Any advice is appreciated
Cheers

It depends where you're going and what you're doing and what the weather will be doing!
If you're fairly central in a resort and are only nipping to the shops etc then trainers *might* be fine. But i'd always go for the safer option in case you need to trudge through snow etc;
Brasher-boots are my choice, (gore-tex mountain boots) but i've not tried/tested snow boots so couldnt comment there!
My mountain boots might/might not be acceptable for apres-ski but I dont care as long as my feet have warmth and grip!
Joe :)

Thanks Joe!
I'm headin to the 3 valleys in the alps in feb, so I think it will be pretty snowy.
Will check out the mountain boots in the meantime.
Cheers!

Hi,
I would go for mountain boots, Salomon proposes every type you need as well as Timberland, they last forever and are not so expensive.
I would say, nobody should be allowed to wear moonboots !!!
Enjoy your first skiing holidays and let us know how you did !

Likewise - I usually take Merrells and Timberlands (scruffy and smart, but both grippy)
Means I've got a spare if one gets wet.
Don't get moonboots. Please.
