Just got back from Obergurgl!!!

Hi All

Just got back from Obergurgl and had a ski fest!! Complete white out when we got there, but sadly, been bright sunshine since, but the snowmakers have been on all day and night to try and keep the pistes alive!! God it was good to be back on skis!! Planning the next one now for Boxing Day through New Year, so anyone got any suggestions, give me a shout!

It's good to hear some optimism !
We had guests last week who had a great time too. There is no need of metres of snow to have a great fun. And the one we had was quality ! Plus a great blue sky and cold... isn't better than fog and rain showers anyway ?

Just a word about everything you can hear or read in newspaper in UK, don't take it for granted when it's about weather.
Last year we had one of the best snow in decades (150 cm in 24 hours), pure powder ... and all we heard about was avalanches and how risky it is so much snow and bla bla bla.

So, not enough snow is not good, and apparently too much is dangerous !
Just trust people who live there or people back from their holidays.... THEY know !
And you don't ski at 1200m ? So no panic there will be some snow and snow canon and still lots of fun, beers and genepy !

What more can you possibly ask for holidays ?

Genepy is the nicest thing ever!!! My mate went to Tignes last Feb and brought back a load but apparently you cant get it anywhere else??? I want to go to Tignes for the genepy alone, skiing would be an added bonus!!

And glad you had a good time in Obergurgl jobster!! Have you seen the j2ski snow reports for the Christmas time?? Looks awesome with really low temperatures, maximum freezing levels of -600 odd metres!! And slight snow to.

My husband is crazy about genepy, and you can find some everywhere in Savoie (Tignes, Val d'isere, Les Arcs, courchevel...)but not Haute-savoie.

I made couple of litres one year, delicious... it's not really legal but local authorities have some tolerance if it's for your own consommation !!! And it was !!!

Maybe we should set up a new site for alcoholics of the slopes! Love Genepy!! Agree with everything said about believing the hype on snow.....even we were surprised to see as much as we did and the forecasts do look good for Christmas....Locals were saying that the next few days are going to dump some serious snow!! Don`t you just lovethis time of year!!

I suppose the forecasts and webcams always make the snow look bad when you can see the snow machines pumping away, warm temperatures and sunny weather. It just makes you assume its patchy and that there wont be much good skiing, but obviously you have to go there to know for real!
