We are a group of 40 and 50 somethings (sometimes as many as 24 of us) and for the last 10 years we have skied a week together at end of January. The group is made up of males and females and ranges from good intermediates to a 2 week beginner. We have always skied Austria mainly coz we love the easy flights from Luton and quick transfer to resort and the après ski in Austria is so good. In 2014 we fancy a change but have no idea where to go in Italy. We love to ski into village/town and like long reds/blue cruising. Our usual holiday adviser has said we have to fly from stansted and must go on a Sunday (this was for sauze with not much choice of hotel) anyone got any better ideas?

La Thuile is good...long cruisy blues and reds, quiet...can ski over to La Rosiere on the same pass plus 2 days in Aosta Valley for Pila/Cormayeur etc. Easy to get transfers from either Geneva or Turin so Easyjet travel OK.
Planibel complex with 4 star hotel or apartments is 40 mtrs from gondola/lifts.

Sauze offers nice long cruises on fairly easy pistes but the problem is the snow there as even in January you might struggle to ski the last run into town. If snow is good its a really nice place to ski but there's no guarantee.
Dolomites is a good suggestion, but there's so much to choose from. I like the look of selva or arabba and folgarida may be a good option close to madonna.
However I've just had a superb week skiing on empty pistes with an hour and 20 min transfer from Turin, no queues anywhere, high altitude, lovely long reds, superb snow, cheap food and drink, hotel next to the gondola.......

It doesn't get discounted as there's not many beds in resort and they all sell out but I'd seriously suggest it if you like the above.

Go to Dolomites. Either Selva or Corvara. We have been going for the last 3 years for a week and will never tire of it. I have actually only skied in Italy! And love it.
The area is vast, with a huge variety of areas to choose from.
You can ski a different resort everyday on the Sellaronda and the scenery is amazing.

Cervinia is really good and you can ski over to Zermatt
