Does anyone know if I can use my 20kgs luggage allowance on a package holiday, flying Thompsons, to take a large coffin ski bag with all my kit in it without paying the additional ski carriage? Have tried asking the travel agent but got no definative answer and have had no reply from Crystal.

I know the answer to this.

It is quite easy to find on google as well.

Basically, if you take a coffin style bag, it contains skis or a board so you have to pay the £35 carriage charge. You can either try to pack everything into this one bag with a 25kg limit, or alternatively take a regular case 20kg, and then book board carriage and use the coffin bag for up to 15kg, but that means lugging 2 bags around.

Crystal will weigh both bags when you check them in, as ski and board carriage must be prebooked and 15kg max.
