Has anyone had any experience of these? I found out today one is opening in my home town next summer.

I initially got VERY excited thinking it was like a snow dome, but it's not :(

Think small! Rolling carpet type simulator. Very intensive tuition. Great for technique. A lesson there probably equal to a half day at a snowdome. No waiting for lifts or avoiding other people ;-)

No views of mountains, or fresh air...or snow!

The Swiss team uses one of these machines for slalom training

The transverse arms connecting the skis together are called Snow Rails http://www.snowrails.ch/media.html they were invented by Ulo Gertsch who also designed the Salomon rear entry boot heel hold down mechanism and the original Fritschi ski touring binding.

Also called an "endless belt".

Or as one lady beginner thought, a night out with a sailor.....

So good for an intense lesson? Assume you can't just go on for an hour and do your own thing? Must include a lesson?

Machinery is involved, variable speeds, will need someone to operate it, who knows the controls. Don't know for sure, but I doubt it. Elfin Safety!
