Have a set of marker duke bindings I want to mount on K2 skis (both second hand). I have a drill press and I'm going to make a drilling template.
Need advice on:
How do I know how far forward to position them on the ski?
How deep to I drill the ski and what diameter?
Torque setting for the screws?
How to properly set the binding for the boot length?
And what should I use to fill/seal the holes left by the previous binding?
Thanks

Make sure the binding mounting holes line up with the template before drilling! The new holes should be no less than 1cm away from the old holes.
Depends on what you want to use them for, there are normally marks on the skis.
Usually 9-9.5mm. The drill diameter is normally marked on the skis, usually 4.1mm if the ski has a metal layer in it (you will also need a tap) and 3.6mm if not.
4-5 Nm, put some water resistant PVA woodworking adhesive in the holes before putting in the screws and use a No. 3 Pozidrive bit/screwdriver to tighten them.
Don't know; don't forget forward pressure and AFD height.
Plastic binding hole plugs http://www.slidewright.com/plastic-binding-hole-plugs-pk_svpbhp.html
If you haven't done this before, practice on a piece of wood first.
Very crafty 10/10 for that!

Thanks - great idea doing a practice on a piece of wood first!
That template doesn't match my holes. different year perhaps but I'll just mark one out myself.

I would be very surprised if the one from TGF didn't work as it was drawn by someone who knows what he's doing http://bindingfreedom.com/ Did you get the right one, there are 2; Duke and Duke EFP http://www.techinfo.bindingfreedom.com/Binding_Templates.html and did you print it out at the right scale?
Centering the bindings can also be a bit tricky the guy who sells the plugs has some good tips in his blog http://www.slidewright.com/weblog/ski-snowboard/bindings-ski-snowboard/drilling-skis-to-mount-bindings/

OK got em mounted alright. I made a drilling template out of an old (plastic) number plate and stuck my photocopies onto there.
Had to move them 10mm back from the recommended position because of the previous binding holes so hoping that wont make too much difference.
How do I measure the AFD height and forward pressure. I've set the length so the heel has the tiniest bit of clearance (piece of paper thickness) from the rear until it clicks in. And the front plate also has piece of paper clearance from the sole of the boot. Is that correct?
*One important point*
I planned on using a string line between the K2 pre drilled holes in the tip and tails of the ski to get the bindings centered. Don't do this the holes are only roughly centered from the factory.
