hi Rich, If staying in Selva then try the Hotel Friena, great hotel with excellent food, right on the sella ronda route. or this year we stayed in the Cesa Padon about 5 miles down the hill from Arabba, very reasonably priced (about 60 euros a night half board) the food is fantastic & there is a hotel skibus that transports you too & from the slopes, a really nice family run hotel. I wouldnt advise staying in Arabba itself, not much going on. good luck.

Can't go wrong on the Sella Ronda! The amount of piste available - good snowfall permitting - is amazing.
Spent a week in Arabba last year December, and would go back to the Sella Ronda again and again.
Agree with previous writer that Arabba is a bit quiet, but with a good group of people (Neilson ski, for example), it can be awesome!
Go for it!

Hi, I'm new.
Just thought I'd give you a bit of knowledge about Sella Ronda area. Fantastic skiing, fab food, great hotels in the region, andthe Dolomites are the most spectaular mountains I've seen. Arabba though is the most remote place I have ever been to. Decided to stay here after skiing through a few times, and was pretty bored - not into nightclubs, just cosy bars & good food. Little apres ski to be found. I am a competent skier of 15 seasons, and even found the blues here tricky at times(icy). There are only 2 roads up to the resort and when the snow storms appear, it's like being cut off - especially when the lifts stop working.
Good Luck!

Hi - we've stayed in the Chalet Barbara in Arabba...it's a satellite of the SportHotel. Asolutely gorgeous if expensive (and gave us a discount when we asked for one). Friends stayed in the Sport, which is a lovely hotel.
There's a restaurant over the other side of the road from the Sport that is excellent - looks out over the Burz chair, but I can't remember its name. Lovely place for a chilled out apres-ski beer and then a slightly more formal meal later in the evening.
Jimmy's Hutte, past Colfosco on the way to Gardena is one of my favourite places anywhere in the mountains. The views of the Gruppo del Sella massif are tremendous and, as a non-smoker, I almost felt obliged to take one as I was surrounded by uber-smart coffee drinking/smoking italian skiers.
I don't know why more Brits don't get to this part of the world (I'm glad they don't) as the skiing is some of the best I've had anywhere. Enjoy your stay.

I very nearly booked 8 of us in to a smart chalet, in fact a Platinum graded one, in Arabba for Jan, but we ended up in St Anton instead which was great.
However, its somewhere I really want to try and get to in the near future, as it looks stunning. And theres plenty of good skiing to go at.
