Hi Peeps, firstly i'm new to this forum used to be a regular in skiclub uk forum but they've recently closed it down to non members, their loss is your gain
Anyways, they problem i have is the Mrs got some new ski boots a few weeks back and she seems to be having lots of problems getting them to fit properly. We've been back to the shop a fiar few times and they've stretched the boots so they don't crush her toes any more. But she is still complaining of foot cramps, they tried an off the shelf footbed in the boots and it seemed to make the problem worse. I reckon she needs a custom footbed or perhaps a heel raiser? The problem is worse when she uses button lifts. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?
TIA, Mac

Hi Mac, unless your lady has really unusual feet this sounds to me like the "fitter" has put her in the wrong size boots. I think, if I were you, the first thing would be to go somewhere else and get her feet measured again...
If the numbers come out the same, then seek further advice. Custom footbeds are a trendy way to upsell at the moment so question all you're told!
If the numbers don't come out the same, then take the boots back, make a fuss, and start again! Keep in mind that the boot makers all have slightly different ideas of what shape the average foot is - so try different makes at the same size.
But do take the time to get it sorted; there's nothing worse than badly fitting ski boots (and properly fitted, modern boots do wonders for your technique and enjoyment).

Hi Mac - I'm another ex Ski Club poster. A few criticisms and they take their ball away! Let's hope some of the "old crowd" discover this site and start posting.
Anyway, can't really say much on the boot problem. I'm on my second pair and still suffer from cramps, pain and pins and needles. They have been blown and I have Comformable footbeds. The only advice I can offer is always undo the boots on lifts, any lifts, drag, chair, whatever. This seems to help me.

well i just hope she can get it sorted before our hol in 2 weeks, else i can see we will have to get her some hire boots. Maybe i could do a deal with the hire shop and trade some worn in hire boots for her new ones :) that way everyones a winner ;)
Nice to see some ex ski club dudes. Definately a great bunch, shame they had to segregate us.

Mac, I'm also a refugee from the non-members forum but lots of us are on www.snowheads.com which is where this site was mentioned. My wife has also had problems with boots and 4 years ago in St Anton, after hiring boots because her's hurt her etc etc, she decide that the hire boots were perfect. So they were for 2 years but as I could have predicted but didn't want to, they don't fit any more too loose now. The fact is they were too soft to be of any value but its often difficult to advise your better half that you do actually have their best interest in mind. I second the advise to keep persevering and check the measurements again. Good luck
