I happened to drop into Ellis Brigham in Tamworth yesterday. Theres some decent sales on at the moment, and a mountain of North Face stuff in medium mens - I could have filled 2 suitcases I reckon. All 25% off.

However, I noticed some real bargains on skis and boots particularly. Of particular note were:

Atomic Blackeye Ti with XT0 12 bindings down from £520 to £364. Black and green, very nice styling, get rave reviews online. Available in 160, 167, 174 and 181. Ellistine.....?

Blizzard Bushwacker with Peak 12 bindings down from £540 to £378. They had these in 173 and 180 and I don't know how I managed to resist temptation but might have to revisit.

Movement Jam with Peak 12 bindings down from £540 to £325.80. These look an absolute steal at this price. Never tried Movement skis but these babies get decent reviews for all mountain semi's. Cool graphics too. 164, 173 or 182.

I really had not planned to change skis, but I'm wondering if I should ski something a little longer now. My Neo's are 166 and I love what they do, but I keep thinking I ought to go longer. Sadly the Scott's were not really discounted, apart from a short pair of Mission's.

There were plenty of others too, ladies skis and piste skis, but I found myself attracted to the all mountain bracket. If you want new boots, now would be a good time to get them as they are definitely a lot cheaper than in Europe. Salomon RS8's going for £160.

Fill your boots.

Blizard Bushwacker is getting excellent reviews, maybe it's time to update your Neo's? :) 173 should be a good length for you. With a rocker you won't even notice 7cm extra over your Neo's. I haven't seen it selling here. Blizzard's are relatively rare in my experience.

That does look like a good ski. I hate it though when they only give the radius for one length in the specs. The 180 is 21M so would guess the 173 at about 18+M. That would be my only concern, on the groom it would harder to carve unless you have plenty of room.
because I'm so inclined .....

166 does sound a bit short for you Tony.

Be very wary of the Head Peak 12 bindings, they have a massive 9mm delta, the biggest of any binding on the market. Forget the Movement Jam, it's an old design. If you could get the Blizard Bushwacker with a Marker Griffon for the same price then that would be a really good deal. Failing that buy them flat (don't pay more than 250) and have them mount your existing bindings.

As regards cheap boots remember the old adage of "buy cheap, buy twice".

Swingbeep, got spot on the Delta angle on that binding  That is just nuts!

I was going to suggest to Tony, that based on his love of the Neo's he would enjoy the Jam's in 171, and he should test them 1st :D

Personally I'm not a fan of Marker bindings so would be wary of packages at any price.

There are no such things as cheap boots, just the ones that fit. Anything else leads to misery )
