In les arc last week and in a group so there was a little waiting time on different runs for the group to get back together..unfortunately where i stopped to wait was under a lift and some european teenagers threw a snowball at me and hit me right on the side of the helmet.. after my few seconds of expletives and wanting to take on the hole of france and telling the little so and so what i was going to do to him if i could run up the 500mts of mountain to meet him when he got off the chair... to give him credit it was a good shot  but that was not my initial thought
note to myself is never to wait within throwing distance of a chair lift...
so has anyone else ever been hit by something from a lift..maybe other snowballs or even a ski that has been released from a binding on a lift :-o

In the Grand Massif at Morillon there are 2 lifts that cross over each other.
It's impossible if you are on the lower lift to avoid people banging their skis together and dropping snow on your head.
Always good for a laugh, and it's only wet. Wouldn't fancy anything heavy dropping though.

Always best to avoid stopping under lifts. We have all seen ski poles and the occasional kids ski on the snow below.
because I'm so inclined .....

I heard a story about the local kids in resorts going pilfering under the lifts when the snow thaws and picking up all sorts of things dropped: the odd pole, glove, etc. I was thinking of opening a shop for one armed/legged skiers.

This year in ADH there was a massive group of French students sitting outside a cafe under the Marmottes chair, and every time someone rode above them on the chair they started chanting a song and launching snowballs at the people on the lifts. Actually quite funny. many of them hit their intended targets.
For some reason, I appeared to be the only person on the lift that day who remembered the lift had a cover and pulled it down before we got to them, much to their disgust. There was a lot of booing and some chant in French that sounded like their version of "you're s*** and you know you are".
I also found it very amusing to ski past them on the way down and do a massive sharp fast turn like a hockey stop without the stop just in front of them. I reckon I got at least half of them.

I have never been hit by something from a lift but I did watch and get involved with from the saftey of my balcony a cracking snowball fight between the French and the Germans during an evening snow storm, Must have gone on for an hour.
