Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to go on a cheap ski trip?

I will be going with the newbie missus so probably alot of time on the baby slope!

Ideally looking to go at some point next month, flexible on dates!

Looking to spend around 500pp, possibly a little more...

Ideally some sort of package with flights, transfers, accommodation, ski pass included, is this asking for too much lol ?

To be fair it could be asking a bit much for mainstream Europe-Austria, Italy, France. I've seen prices around the £200 mark for B&B for the above with flights then figure on £200 for a lift pass then anotehr £100 for gear so not a million miles off (so long as it's not half term).

Crystal have some good deals on at the mo: http://www.crystalski.co.uk/ski-deals/

An area with free nursery lifts for your Mrs could be the way to go-can she get time in an indoor slope when she goes? If she plans on getting essons in resort that could blow your budget-then again not advised to self teach with zero exeprience?!

For super cheap there seem to be a lot of bargains in Bulgaria, maybe Andorra too

Crystal have some cheap hotels in Neiderau (Austria)for just over £300 half board too.

If your on a tight budget and cannot find any discounted deals then try looking at ski weekends.com they offer cheap holidays to brides les bains (3 valleys) for about £300 chalet board. Plus your lift pass, if your beginners then just buy an area pass for around £170. This will bring you under your budget.... Only snag is its travel by coach. However I did this last yr with the lads for a cheap last min trip and it wasn't that bad at all....

Thanks for the advice guys.

I will have a look at Crystal, not too keen on Ski Weekends, coaching doesn't sound too pleasant!

Any recommendation's on decent resorts in the cheaper counties?

Cervinia in Italy (with Inghams or Crystal).
Great value for money and ideal for beginners plus some lovely restaurants and bars.

The problem I think a lot of us find with ski holidays is that you have a lot to add up to get your final price -

Basic Hotel price
Lift pass - and this can bump it up considerably
Equipment Hire
Flight Supplement
Then airport parking unless you get dropped off
And then there are resort prices for things - which can vary dramatically!

This always amuses work colleagues when I sit at lunchtime with ski brochures and a calculator (which is quite a nice way to spend a lunchbreak!) but even the hotel plus lift pass price can bump the cost up straight away!

There used to be a company who offered the full final price for everything, and you then deducted what you didn't need, but can't remember their name (Equity ski?) so you started at the high price and it came down.

Look at Bulgaria or Romania - never skied there but have friends who have.

Maybe wait and get a last minute booking (this is what we are doing this year for March) you can save quite a bit.

Skiing holidays are never the cheapest but I think all of those who are on this forum would agree it is money well spent!!
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

Hi
If you go to Montgenevre, there are cheap apts there, La Plain de sol and when we went there was a free lift on the nursery slope, so check that out. Just been to Hotel la betulla in Bardonecchia Italy. We paid £1500 for the 4 of us, half board, but no lessons, just lift pass skis and boots, but thats at below yr budget. (We got a late deal so keep checking the neilson website.
Balkan holidays is very good, and has last minute deals and the ski package in bulgaria is only £150

Go through cashback site quidco to get 3% of your holiday back. Doesnt sound much but its £30 off a 1000 hol (pay for your parking. airport parking, use airparks or park and go, again use quidco cashback site, and you can use a 10% code off put the first 3 letters of your chosen airport plus 10 into the voucher box. Your quidco cashback is about 8% off the final price. If you want to, send me yr email addy and I will send you the quidco sign up (I will also earn £1 for referring you) I have never paid more than £1500 for a ski holiday for the 4 of us inclusing skis boots and LP's because i shop around and use c/b sites. last 3 yrs ive booked within a fortnight!
