Hi everyone, it's my first time on these forums.
Wondered if you could give me some advice, me and a friend are looking for a ski holiday in Austria/France probably for early April for 3-7 nights.
Ideally it'll be good value, have a decent nightlife, and most importantly good ski conditions.
Is there somewhere you guys/girls could recommend in terms of ski resorts/hotels/chalets etc.
Also where's the best place to book such holidays?
Any help would be much appreciated!

kids holiday around that time.would suggest some where high with a glacier but if you prepared to travel to heathrow or Gatwick I would suggest hanging on and getting a late deal and you can pick and choose where you going. Maybe going to an area you would normally avoid due to low altitude but had a good dump of snow a week before you go.I live in the north east and that does not work for me and trying to get a flight out of Newcastle can be a nightmare

Would you recommend any resorts in particular?
Ideally somewhere with a mix of difficulties slopes wise.

if you were to book now I would suggest mayhofen. With free bus to glacier and other areas all covered by your lift pass. Obergurgl snow sure but not many bars in the village.if you can hold out and see what deals you can get and be as flexible as you can. Soll I would recommend but can run out of snow. But it also can good levels. That's where booking late and being open minded to all resorts

I would decide on your week and then see about a week before where the snow is and what is available. Bear in mind Easter is around 8/9 April this year, so this means higher prices and kids! Apart from that if the snow conditions are good, you could have fab skiing, a sunshine lunch and a long ski day - and come back with panda eyes!! You will need a good sunblock - I have had bad sunburn from skiing with a lower factor sunscreen in the past - just bear this in mind! (It is not much fun burning the inside of your nose I can tell you!!)

Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

I wouldnt say Mayrhofen in April, the slopes might not be great that late, although there is the glacier up the road.
I'd recommend hanging on until a week or 2 before and booking somewhere where they've just had plenty of fresh snow.
Dont get hung up on a particular resort yet. Be prepared to be flexible. Youll get something definitely, but may have to take flights from your non preferred airport to get a good deal.
Ideally you should consider the following:
Austria: Obergurgl, Solden, Ischgl (all usually quite expensive)
France: Val d'Isere/Tignes, Avoriaz, Val Thorens
I've also been to Serre Chevalier late season, snow was good, and its a fantastic ski area with mixed ability, slightly cheaper as well.
Dont rule anything out though.
