Apologies if this has been done before!

I'm going to buy my 11 year old boy some skis this season as I think he's at the point where he'll benefit from his own. Just wondering what your recommendations are?

He'll get himself down anything, mainly on piste but likes fannying about in the trees too. Any recommendations welcome as I'm getting nowhere looking online!

1 - how many weeks will he ski this year?
2 - this years skis may last next season, or he may have a growth spurt!
3 - I'm not trying to disuade you from a wonderful present but ......

At his age I would be investing in top quality hire skis. Get him on a few different models/types and see what makes a difference to his skiing and pleasure. Swap them around during his skiing, let him experience the differences and variety before buying.
This is the "sensible" approach but no one but yourself can judge the pleasure all round in your son owning his first skis!

I think it's the pleasure for him - he's likely to only ski 2 weeks this year (and yes, I am hoping we'll get 2 seasons out of them!)

I can still remember the absolute joy of my first pair of owned skis. Indulgent maybe, but I'd like him to get that too, plus the difference it did make to my skiing experience.

Aaaaah!! What a great Mum!!
Now - to help, I reckon we need a lot more info.
What size is he?
How fit and sporty?
How much skiing has he done?
Would you say that he skis like a child or "adult", and I'm sure you can tell the difference, is there any elegence or technique in his skiing or is he like most kids which is more of a crash it down the hill all things flying and a big grin on his face?
What is the budget (inc. bindings)?
What are HIS skiing aspirations at the moment?
Racing, park, powder?

OK, he's approx 150 cm tall, he's lean, pretty fit.

He's skied 6 weeks and plenty of days when we lived in Scotland.

He parallel skies most of the time - he's still a mixture of kid and adult style - when he's enjoying himself he's pretty fluid as he's not over thinking it.

He's not a park kid at all, he likes powder and trees.

Budget....that's the one I'm not sure of. The plan is to sell them on once he's grown out of them. £200 or less would be good but that's negotiable for something that would suit him well.

Thanks for your help :)

Well .....
I cannot and would not recommend any particular ski but with what you have said I should think any biggish shop will have several ski packages that would suit and in your budget.
Graphics is probably going to be the big attraction.
If you took what you have told us here to a shop and asked what they would recommend I feel prety confident you will have success.

Save your money and rent, he could have out grown them by next season
