I have been absent from this forum for a while owing to an ankle operation and now have arthritis in a knee (and couldn't bear to read about snow and skiing, as I thought that was it!), so have found out from my specialist and osteopath, that I am OK to return to skiing (hurrah! :D :D :D) but I must take it easy - so no more ado, I need to find the right resort. I have always been a cautious intermediate and my hubby much more adventurous, but we have skied most years since 1986 - rather than trawl through endless brochures - what would my long lost J2ski buddies recommend. In the past we have skied resorts in Andorra, Switzerland, Slovenia and Austria, so would like somewhere with a mix of runs (easy for me, a bit more scary for 'he who must be obe obeyed' and a nice friendly atmosphere - also if there is one where you can get something other than a 6 day ski pass, so if my return to the slopes is not good, I can do other things too! i.e. a 3 day pass, or a ski for half a day pass for 5 days? Thanks guys!! :D :D :D
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

you could try www.singlesport.com. this offers holidays over several weeks through the season giving skiers the opportunity to ski and socialise together in a very friendly group- lots of single skiers- but also couples who have differing ski abilities, or halves of couples who leave their other halves at home! the package includes 2 hours daily ski instruction. so you are grouped in a class of similar ability- giving you the right level of ski buddy to ski with for the rest of the day, or you can meet up with your other half after your lesson and go off together. have a look at the website and see what you think. Ruth is very helpful and will answer any queries you may have.

You might look at Italy and Sauze. If your a FB person suaze on line have a good page and web site with a Brit running the site to give you all the info you might require.

Hi there, sympathise because I have arthritic ankle, long op on this in 2010 and then, just getting back to skiing last year and broke my arm...no probs with ankle at all...just random fall at the end of a run..b ut like you this year feeling a little lacking in confidence. So...going to alpe d'huez. Have been there a few times before and decided it has enough easy runs to get me started again. Lots of long greens, easy blues and reds by Friday. I really hope you get back on the slopes in an enjoyable way and have a great season...best wishes and ave a look at alpe dhuez.

Ah cheers for all your replies! Most useful and have had a look at the resorts and websites - knew it was worth asking advice. You dread asking the question of the consultant - can I still ski? but I had to ask as I needed to know, didn't want to exacerbate a problem but also didn't want problems if I went skiing and ended up being carted off the mountain. I guess our skiing days have to come to an end sometime. Appreciate your help and happy New Year to you all.

Try Cervinia in Italy - lots of long, cruisy blue runs with all the delights of being in Italy.
