Hi
I have just booked a weeks holiday in Feb to Sauze D'Oulx, for two families totalling 8 members. - age 12yrs to adults.

We are all complete beginners and will need ski lessons. The tour operator we have booked with is offering a 'learn to ski package' which includes lessons, ski and boot hire and lift pass for the 6 days at a price of £250 pounds sterling. As there are 8 of us this totals £2000 sterling (2970 euros) this seems to be on the steep side? As this is our first time skiing and to the area could any one please advise if there is cheeper way to do this/ Any local company contact details / ski school that could be passed to me would be a big help. Is it possible to book ski school packages for 3/4 days instea? I have tried to google a search but the big tour operators and ski companies seem to monopolise the search results. Any help would be appreciated.
many thanks joanne

Hi Joanne, pretty sure there's one of the regulars who's based in Sauze - I'll try and round him up... not sure how much cheaper you'll be able to get it but you can almost certainly save a bit compared to the Tour Op's prices. They make a big margin on ski hire!

Hello Joanne,

I've had a look at the individual components of the package and based on last years prices it comes out at £2035. Lift passes £878 Ski hire £430 and lessons £727. This is based on individual prices multiplied by 8.

Ill be in Sauze in November for a few days so if you can hang on ill try and get some definitive prices as im sure discounts can be obtained for large parties.

Im not sure that it'll work out massively different but you never know.

regards

Hi Joanne, to be honest its going to be pretty hard to beat £2000.

Lessons would be around ?140 per person for a 6 day course (3hrs per day).

The lift pass prices are displayed at http://www.sauzeonline.com/winter/es_lpp1.asp

Equipment - If you like you could fill out the form on sauzeonline and send it off to the hire shop to obtain their best price. Im sure they'd be up for a bit of bartering, it is Italy after all.

Hope thats helped
