Hello!

I have been looking on this site for a while now and there always appears to be a lot of "Hate" for Niederau.

Can anyone explain why?

I don't think you will find it is really "hate".
Niederau features heavily on here and is very popular with many people.
What you are seeing is mainly "banter" between regulars, rather than anything else.
OK - occasionally this goes a bit OTT.

I'd never even heard of Niderau before coming on here, now I feel I know the resort intimately  even though unlikely to ever visit.

I am a confirmed Francophile
and have been known to, occasionally, purely in jest, just for a laugh, you know, really nothing serious, promise, I don't mind Austria that much and wouldn't refuse to go etc etc etc,
comment on a resort where green runs refer to the colour of the ground and not the ease of skiing
That's all it is Mashton.

Excellent. Just what we needed.....another Niederau thread!! That should get the peasants up in arms again.

The place appears to have become a running joke on this forum, due to a couple of very polarised posters. It is the marmite of ski resorts.

I try to maintain a balanced view. I can appreciate the good and the shit parts. It's one of the oldest resorts in Austria, and was well-used by UK cheapo charter companies for "budget" beginner skiing.

It's obviously pretty crap compared to a proper resort like Ischgl, St.Anton, Courchevel, Meribel and all that proper jazz. So you cannot defend it against a "real" resort.

But it's cosy, harmless and most importantly 10 minutes down the road from Hopfgarten and the SkiWelt arena.

Snap!

Though I agree it's just banter that may, on occassion, get out of hand. Admin wont stand for racism though (against the Austrians French or anyone) and thats as it should be

So just sit back, have a glass of Gluwine, and enjoy!

Racism ..... have not come across that yet on J2ski

Racism in the true sense - picking on a race (the French, Austrians or whomever)even in jest (such as Englishman, Irishman, Scotsman jokes) rather than how it's usually used meaning discrimination against an ethnic group.

And we do get a bit of the former but agree never any of the latter
