I was looking this up for myself, and I thought other people might also find it helpful so they could have the option of avoiding ski-ing in France during the French school holidays. Of course the slopes may still be crowded with Dutch, Russians etc. ... I haven't checked all their school holidays

The Winter and Easter school holidays in France vary across different geographical areas so that not all France has their school holidays at the same time, apart from at Christmas.

Basically this means that their Christmas holidays are from Saturday 17th December to Tuesday 3rd Jan
Their Winter school holidays run from 11th February to 12th March
Their Easter school holidays run from 7th April to 7th May.

All the EU school holidays are listed at

http://eacea.ec.europa.eu/education/eurydice/tools_en.php

Remember that most countries stagger their half term and equivalent holidays across 2-3 weeks. And as in the UK, private schools may deliberately choose different dates to state schools.

Last time I checked, I found that every week over the winter season some school area, somewhere in the EU was on holiday! Although, obviously, the peak times are Christmas, New Year, Easter and around mid-February.

I've also been told that in the UK, this year is unusual because the week 19-23 Dec. 2011 is holiday, and I know a couple of families that are going out to the Alps on an early holiday.
