I am looking for something thats very hard to find.
I tried last year to find the same thing and gave up, but I am willing to give it another go.
I am looking for accomodation in Meribel for four nights for about 7 or 8 people from January 26th to january 30th. I would prefer catered or half board but would take self catered if there was no other choice.
I only get 4 days skiing a year due to very young kids so want to make the most of my few days and feel that Meribel is the best bet for good skiing with a good nightlife thats not too far from Geneva.
Thanks in advance.
Gar.

If you don't find something there, please can i look for you in Morzine? I think the chalets here are sometimes more flexible.

If you want to maximise your skiing time, and need flexible accom, why not choose a resort much closer to GVA that has a big stock of accom providers who are used to short stays? There is likely to be a sound business reason for the weekend operators to have set up shop in Chamonix (for example).
Meribel is hardly convenient, or close. The Tarentaise seems to favour the Sat-Sat stay model. Given the village height, the "best bet for good skiing" is debatable depending on the snow.
Flaine or La Clusaz are closer, but top of the pile has to be Chamonix.

Thanks for the replies. We were in Morzine last year and Chamonix a few years earlier and just fancy trying another resort. I have skiied in Meribel and loved it but my friends have not so that is why the first choice is there.
I never thought of la Clusaz. Any advice on it?
Thanks.

I think bandit is on the right lines here.
Meribel is quite a distance from Geneva - and the transfer will cost a bundle or be slow (if using public transport).
I would think you will have a better chance of finding flexible accomodation in a town rather than a ski station - have you thought of Brides Les Bains for the 3 valleys?
Just a long gondola up to Meribel for the skiing and then down again at the end of the day.
Personally I would be looking for convenience - then you may get an extra half day on the slopes either at the start or end depending on flights etc.
Have a look at www.booking.com for availability - but check direct with accomodation as you want a non standard week before booking.
Also one of the owners abroad type websites - there seem to be a few owners happy for non standard bookings on their apartments especially low season.
Good luck!

Hi Gareth,
I don't know anywhere in Meribel that does short break ski holidays, but we have been with mountainsunltd.com on a short break to Tignes. They also do short breaks to La Plagne. The prices are quite reasonable, e.g. around £160 for 3 days ski-ing and 3 nights in La Plagne at the end of Jan. The price includes Geneva transfers, the catered chalet, and ski hosting. So you just need to pay for flights, lift passes and ski hire (or bring your own skis). And they are generally quite flexible about the number of nights, as long as they have availability.
I am off to Meribel myself for the New Year, so I am hoping it's as good as you say it is!

Have you looked at www.merinet.com or www.amsrentals.com ? Might find something there.

For a short break you don't want a lot of travel time. La Clusaz is convenient from Geneve and one of the shortest drive times from the UK. I've recently come across a company at www.skiweekender.com
They specialise in short breaks and are based in the La Clusaz / Grand Bornand area. Might be worth a look.
