Lateral Epicondylitis sounds way more serious IMV  |
Yes, you need an all round ski. I'm suggesting that as you want to buy skis, then you approach resort shops with a view to testing before you buy. They might be hire shops with a rack of this models on VIP/Top Line rental, or a dealership. Either way, it's not too realistic to buy without trying.
In Europe we have a number of events where the public can test as many new skis as they desire. For example: http://www.mondialduski.com/ http://www.zermatt.ch/e/packages/z09.html I have been on the Swiss Ski Test in Zermatt this year, and had a great time :D |
I think it's all of them :D. As it happens, he might not be around to personally answer your post for a while as he's just had an operation for Lateral Epicondylitis. Get well soon ise :-)

How about the ER on that ski. Thinking outside the box a little here. If I add 2 letters HERD. We get to something very much like a HEAD ski

Oooh, thats a $64,000 dollar question, along with "Will there be enough snow?" ) The weather can vary greatly, I have skied without a coat in January, and been seen in a balaclava in April.
If your clothing is adequate for skiing, you have thermals, hat, decent gloves and goggles (my choice) you will be fine with a wind chill down to -15c. Beyond that, for me, it's frequent stops for warm ups, as I feel the cold! Many folks prefer shades when it's cold but sunny, but it's possible to damage the eyes with cold wind, so I favour goggles. Good quality thermals and layering are important, and don't skimp on good gloves. If it's Morzine you're heading to, then you're never too far away from a decent restaurant stop :D |
Mike, I think that the red binding is a Look Turntable model, not sure which one. They were Z models 3/5/9 :D..then again, I could be totally wrong!
The very old rear binding with an external spring, by the oldest ski, may be an early Marker race binding...or not! |
I second the suggestion for basing yourself in Les Arcs. I have been out there in April a few times, and the snow has been deep and plentiful. With a car, you can explore plenty of resorts without breaking the bank, and most of the tourists, and TO's have gone, leaving the slopes....to you :D

Well, both will be likely to have good snow. Bourg St Maurice is about 1 hour away from VDI by public bus. Chamonix has a public train service from St Gervais Les Bains, Le Fayet, which is where the TGV arrives.
I would be most surprised if this does not run this winter as I have seen the train running through Chamonix on many occasions. The rail ticket costs about £7 single at the moment. Perhaps it may be worth contacting the Tourist Office in Chamonix to ascertain that the train service will run before taking a final choice. |
