i think because it's xmas - it would need to have a reasonable priced accommodation that allowed you to get a lot for your money. so rekcon Klosters and St Moritz are out.
Possibly somewhere that would be good at new year too. the xmas week next season is SHOCKING! you leave on boxing day. Boo! Zermatt looks awesome - somewhere like that but a wee bitty cheaper. I think for pure xmas pleasure - somewhere with plenty pretty shops to look round - good bars and places to having huge steaming mugs of cocoa, sleigh rides, ice rinks.. Yes i did come across saas fe on my travels. going to look into that in more detail : - ) |
no - sorry the question was
WHAT/WHERE is the top chocolate box resort. My criteria as described are good amenities, fairly social environment (not over the top brits abroad/major parties all night). A bit like Morzine - but in Switzerland. Where is that place? Is there such a place? cheers |
okay! boys - behave.
Les Gets; I can't remember all the names but Igloo nightclub is a must for a laugh. you MUST be drunk and give the name of your chalet and pretend you are a seasonnaire to get in cheap! Great bar on one side of the town (close to boomerang) - possibly Bar Bush, we spent most nights there. it's got fooz ball, pool table and you can hire dvd's. Big comfy sofas too. Bar Boomernag (it has an accomodation wing too) is supposed to be good but we didn't go in. The Irish bar was frequented by a few of us. As ws the Bear. Another pool table in there... If you are on chalet night off - L'Optroken was really nice for lovely pizzas and stuff. it's right next to the ice rink. To be honest - you can't go far wrong in Les Gets - it's small enough to try all the different bars and choose your favourite. Everywhere is VERY friendly, not rowdy....i'm sure you will be fine! I will miss Les Gets this Xmas! we'll be partying it up in Morzine have a great time. |
I was thinking of Verbier for next xmas - till someone told me it was full of annoying, far too rich Russians.
Although a (rich) Russian husband would come in handy - I'm not sure it would appeal to the rest of the group. What would you rate as top for Choc Box beauty, that has great amenities and a fairly social environment - the Morzine of Switzerland I guess - not too in your face (also not a tiny hamlet - although they are pretty you'd be kinda bored stiff) thanks! |
have you tried mineral makeup?
"mineral foundation is a loose powder foundation that covers blotches, blemishes and flaws and looks and feels barely there. " L'Oreal and barefaced beauty does them, no water, no oil : -) although sounds a bit cold for my liking! x |
Wow - that's some effort and a great description! :P

"picture-box" and "budget" don't usually fit together. i'm thinking specifically of Zermatt, Verbier et al. Certainly the ones with any level of amenities.
Les Gets isn't THAT bad. It's nice enough. I only noticed one shop selling all manner of newspapers (like the one they have on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh) and I never saw any cars with UK plates. But i don't think it's that cheap - especially if you are looking for something budget. my cheapest chalets are in nassfeld, austria, nr Montriond, a nice one in Morzine that really does have outstanding views and one in Les Arcs. The chalets i know and have used in Les Gets aren't "budget" by a fair stretch hope you find something! school holidays can be a bind. sarah x |
yes exactly!
i've just been out and thought the clouds looked kinda blue and there was that "smell" but is it just our imagination based on what subconsciously we've picked up from the weather reports?! |
