SESTRIERE SEASON

Sestriere being high will more than likely be open and snow should be ok. lift passes etc get in resort as they wont be too expensive and probably do the ski/boot hire when you are there as well.

Sorry to hear that!!!

Thats bad, no skiing till Jan 2009. Try get out to the resorts even if you dont ski so you get your snow fix and ski resort atmosphere! there are many ways to have fun even if you cant ski, but obviously it will never be quite the same as skiing!!

Hope the operation all goes well, and they bring the "skiing date" forward considerably!! Good luck :-)
Could be quite hard to come by with those needs. Somewhere like Chamonix is close to Geneva so non skiers are fine, people who want reds/black are in their element. Not sure about their ski school as i have heard nothing of it whatsoever.

Or somewhere like Zell am See/Saalbach/Kaprun. They are all near eachother, offer great skiing and are in a good location for visiting other places for the non skiers. Plus the Austrian ski schools are renowned for being really good, so there should be no problems there.

We already had some of those, but oh well :D

87. Put both poles between a gap in a rock etc, (bridging the gap) to make a seat.

I think that boarders and skiers should have to take proficiency tests to allow hem to ski Red and Black runs.

Sounds an alright idea in theory, but the money/time/effort in that would be huge!!

Many people, alarmingly, "learn" to ski with no lessons at all, relying on the "good ski teaching skills" of their husband/wife/father etc. how would anyone know that they werent a decent skier that can ski black runs competently, without examining them first??
