How far is the Chiltern bike ride? I used to do quite a bit of biking in my young days. In fact I biked down here when I 'emigrated' from London - 250 miles in 4 days over the Chilterns, Cotswolds, Black Mountains etc., about 60 miles a day, and on my Dad's old bike he had made for himself in about 1950 - a real classic bike.

Ally - it's 100km with over 1600metre ascent. I reckon it should take about 5 hours or so
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

I reckon you must have pretty good balance already. A friend of mine had a week of boarding lessons in Austria, and at the end of the week I don't think she was as good as you, after one day of lessons

that's very kind, thank you
now I've just got to nail a bit more than a nursery slope.

I dont know about Getting fit for skiing but for me I think skiing gets me fit for the rest of the year. Normally I find it difficult to walk for miles in deep soft sand, but to-day we walked miles along the beach, in the sand. I did it so much easier, must have been all that walking in deep snow that made it so much easier for me.

Played tennis today, first time for 2 months. After my 450km of skiing in Niederau, and being 12 lbs lighter, I was really flying about the court.

Shame about the shots though. - (
