Hi! Really sorry to hear your news and I hope the operation goes well.
I can actually empathise with your situation as about 8 years ago I was very ill and decided that when I got better I was going to start skiing- as you do!! It was only 3 years ago that I was able to do this and obviously I became hooked. It was the thought of doing something that I had always wanted to do that kept me going during this time and even now I can't believe that it is me whizzing down those ski slopes.
Unfortunately I was ill again over the summer and I also asked my doctor if I would be able to ski as I already had my holiday booked. Looking back it is actually quite funny as I was unable to even walk at that time! Anyway I have made a great recovery and go skiing next Saturday. The point that I am making is that you should never give up on your dreams. You may have to do things slightly differently than you would have originally planned but it is so worth it in the end! Good luck.
