I skied the 15th of April at Glencoe and the 16th of April at Nevis Range last year.. probably two of my best days skiing all year.

Not, not after a week in Niederau... a season in the Rockies.

Can you say, 'Powder in April?'

For the record it has been like this the last 2 years!

Unfortunately our runs aren't very wide and it can get busy::

As for the off piste... none

I seriously would not suggest Scotland, no offence Ross.
If thats the only week you have, then thats when you will have to go, but be prepared for higher costs.
I'd leave it late and book a deal last minute.
Somewhere high, with a glacier, possibly Zermatt or Verbier, Val d'Isere or Alpe d'Huez might be best bets.

hi john

i went in april last year to les gets and got almost a full week in before it was closed as well as spending a fair bit of time in Avoriaz.

I'm planning on going again this year to one of the "high ones" - Val Thorens, Tignes, La Plagne, Les Deux.

If you check out the ski club of GB you can look at the historical data from previous years. lots of places had their best snow coverage in the first two weeks of april.

Courchevel, Chamonix, Les Arcs all came out quite well!

good luck choosing somewhere - unless you want to come with my group?!

TonyH, I am going through a stage of recommending Scotland as every possible solution for every question I come across.. it will pass.

Val d'Isere/Tignes was good in late April last year, we're going back again on 19/4 for a week so fingers crossed.
