Hello :0

In an attempt to beat the airlines at their own game we're going to try and get a ski bag that can fit 2 pairs of skis and 2 pairs of boots.

Can anyone recommend a decent bag taht fits the bill? My Googling so far hasn't yielded much fruit.

Cheers T1b :)
Finally went off Piste!

We used this when we went to France @ Xmas, it was bang on the 20kg allowed. Bit of work required re boots but worked a treat. Salomon 2 Pair 195 Ski Bag
http://www.skiplusonline.co.uk/product/8527/Salomon_2_Pair_Ski_Bag_1112 Also, padded so well protected.

These guys used to do a similar version as the standard double ones on offer, only a lot bigger, and with wheels.

There doesn't seem to be any listed in the store at the moment, but it might be worth dropping them a line and see if they're due to get any more in.

I have the standard double bag myself, and you'd struggle to get two pairs of ski's and boots in there.

I would guess that there would be little else going in the ski bag, if it is to meet the weight limit with 2 x skis, & 2 x boots. I would think it better to pad the 2 x skis with clothes, and put the boots in the other bag. The more awkward your ski bag is to lift and carry, the more likely it is to be mistreated by the baggage handlers.
because I'm so inclined .....

BEFORE you do so, may I ask which airline you are planning this on, as it has enormous relevance?

Yes Tony, if the mighty RA is involved you have zero chance of anything but a tooth brush added to a set of skis

No point picking on just them.......big changes with TUI Group this season where they've allowed a ski bag limit of 15kg per person pre booked, irrespective of whats in it, but only if you book a ski carriage at £35 return.
BA still allow A bag free up to 23kg, skis can be included. Seperate ski bag is £56 return pre booked.
Cant comment on Easyjet but I've heard stories of ski bags not being allowed on due to weight, whats in them, etc. Think it depends on the mood the check in staff are in on the day TBH.
Flybe who I am using for the first time ever this month allow 20kg for a second bag which includes ski bags, £60 return with the airline but £35 return with the tour op - nice.

Word of caution - ski carriage through charter flights and some scheduled now clearly states ONE set of skis and poles. I've got away with packing the bag with clothing every time, but I dont think you'd get away with boots as well due to weight restrictions.

If you're using a charter and take 1 bag which contains skis, you will ONLY get this on if you prebook ski carriage with the tour op or airline direct. You have been warned!!!!
